I've actually heard about (or rather seen on tv), Lt. Dean "Diz" Laird! He was quite the ace in WWII. And just a couple of years ago he made the news for flying his 100th plane on his 95th birthday!

One question: That last card, is it 5" x 7"? If so, was that like a boxtopper or something?
